Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (NSSR)'s first rescue vessel. Saved 67 boats, 237 men and assisted 1522 boats with 4500 men. Out of service from 1933. In '38 to USA, back in '61, wrecked. In '72 given to the Norw. Maritime museum, and in '74 the SSCA got the responsibility, with skipper Knut von Trepka as project leader, now a Member of honour in the club. (See more) |
First owner was Ula, the famous pilot, then taken over by his son. 1914 to '50, she continued to serve as a pilot cutter, untill Mr. Einar Salvesen bought her and sailed her as his ketch rigged yacht under the name Cara, taken over by his son Hans Borti Salvesen. From 1984, owned by The society for Frithjof II, fully restored in 1987. |
Traditional boat from the Hvaler-district on the east side of the Oslo Fjord, close to Sweden. Used for fishing, piloting and transport. Karoline's history is unknown, before Gjermund Havstad (16 years old) restored her in 1982. Christian von Trepka bought her in 1984. Now skippered by Erik |
The oldest boat in the SSCA, built as a pilot cutter in 1887. Not verified history. For many years owned by the Danish architect Elmar Moltke-Nielsen, bought back to Norway in 1998 by Truls Antonsen, a young man with realistic ambitions to restore her back to original looks. I want to be a proud sponsor! |

Built for Mr. W. Frimann Meyer, Bergen, and became a successful regatta yacht. 1921-'70, she was in the hands of various owners, before Captain Einar I. Andersen bought her. He started a major restoration that was continued by Mr. Fred Olsen, Quatro Ltd. in 1987, and soon after donated to the Norw. Maritime Museum. The SSCA has the responsibility for her, organised by skipper Thoralf Ulrik Qvale and his family, who has put in a considerable effort. |
A true beauty, she is. Raak has had a long life through many hands, starting in Bergen in 1914. The famous Norwegina designer Bjarne Aas from Fredrikstad put a lot of effort in to this 12 meter double ender. Lucky for Raak, she got new owners in 1995 who have rebuilt her back to a perfect condition. |
Ordered by Mr. Fredrick Croft, Norway. Also named Tatjana and Havfruen III, and sailed under German and British flags. Sailed several times across the Atlantic, also around the world in the '50s. Did charter in the West Indies. A Norw. oil company bought her back to Norway in the end of the1970s. Fully restored in 1984, and donated to Stavanger Museum for education, representation and science. |
Titania is a good representativ for other types of boats from Mr. Archer's drawing board. As one of two original clipper cutters left, she has been sailed by Andres Falkenberg the last few decades. It is great to tell that after she sank in the Tønsberg Fjord in August 2001, she was rescued, and brought back to a continuing life just a few days later, by the Gokstad Kystlag , who will have the responsibility to restore her. |
